Baltic Coast, Simrishamn

Here are some more pictures from my photo outing in Simrishamn.  Can one shoot hand-held at a slow enough shutter speed to blur the water?  Yes.  The trick is not to blur the rocks too.

I really enjoyed the lichen that covers the rocks.  It’s a sign of good air quality, and I think it’s photogenic too.

Swans in Simrishamn

Not far from the harbor in Simrishamn is this lovely rocky shore.  When we got there, my friend and fellow photographer, Amy Archer and I were promptly greeted by this swan.  When we moved further down the beach, another swan got out of the water and came up to us.  I was bitten by a swan as a child, so I’m wary of them, maybe almost as scared as Amy.  If you’ve never been up close and personal with a swan, they really are HUGE!  Of course they’re beautiful too, and with no teeth or claws, that’s probably enough to put most people at ease.  I’ve never met anyone else who was scared of swans, so I thought this was pretty amusing.  In retrospect I suppose they were expecting us to feed them, but at the time we were on our guard.

Normally I post only my own photos on this blog, but Amy took this picture of me in action, so I’ll share that too.

Simrishamn

Last week I was in Simrishamn to check out the gallery where I will be one of a group of photographers exhibiting during the Easter art week.  While there, I spent some time taking pictures with my friend and fellow photographer, Amy Archer.

We started off at the harbor by the fishing boats.
