I am an American living in Sweden. In 1998, my husband and I moved from sunny San Diego, California to an old farm near Lövestad, Sweden. Needless to say, that was quite and adjustment, but I’m getting along just fine now. I speak Swedish pretty fluently, and I write fairly well too, but it’s so much easier for me to write in English, so that’s what I’ll do here.
Photography has been my passion since I was a child. I got my first point & shoot camera at about age 10, and my first SLR as a teenager. I loved nature photography, but in the suburbs of Southern California, I also developed my skills for photographing people. In both junior high and high school, I took pictures and did layout for my school yearbooks. In college, I earned a bachelors degree in Biochemistry but also competed in nature photography.
I started photographing weddings as a favor for friends and relatives, and I discovered that I really had a talent for that. Here in rural Sweden, the beautiful scenery inspired me to pursue photography, and in 2006 I started my own business. I specialize in weddings, but I also do portraits, travel and nature photography. What I don’t do is anything that requires a studio. I don’t like fussing with lighting and minutia, and I don’t like trying to get people to pose perfectly. Perhaps it’s because I hate posing for pictures myself that I prefer to photograph people when they’re relaxed and not self-conscious. I do like the challenge of adapting to the ever-changing situations of weddings and other on-locations shoots.
